Visa Secure

Visa Secure is Visa’s implementation of the 3-D Secure 2.0 protocol, which enhances the security of online transactions. This security protocol is designed to add an extra layer of verification to prevent unauthorized use of a Visa card during purchases made over the internet. Visa Secure facilitates this by enabling real-time communication between the merchant, the card issuer, and the cardholder.

When a Visa cardholder makes a purchase at a participating merchant, Visa Secure involves the merchant sending detailed transaction data to the cardholder's issuing bank. The adoption of Visa Secure, particularly with its use of the 3-D Secure 2.0 protocol, aims to reduce fraud and increase consumer confidence in digital payments by ensuring that transactions are authenticated and secure. This system not only protects the cardholder but also benefits merchants by reducing the likelihood of fraudulent chargebacks and improving overall transaction approval rates.
