Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR)

Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR) is an innovative program developed by Visa, designed to streamline the dispute resolution process for merchants and cardholders. It operates under the Visa Resolve Online (VROL) platform, which facilitates various aspects of dispute management and resolution between merchants, cardholders, and their respective banks.

The primary goal of RDR is to reduce the time and resources typically required to handle chargebacks and disputes by allowing merchants to automatically issue refunds for certain types of disputes. Merchants have the flexibility to establish specific rules that define under what circumstances disputes are automatically resolved via a refund, and which disputes should be allowed to progress through the traditional dispute resolution process. This automated approach can significantly decrease the administrative burden on merchants and improve the overall customer experience by swiftly addressing and resolving complaints.

Key features of Rapid Dispute Resolution include:

Participation in RDR can be particularly advantageous for businesses that experience a high volume of disputes or those in industries where quick resolution of minor issues is critical to maintaining customer loyalty. By integrating RDR into their payment processing system, merchants can enhance their dispute management capabilities and focus more on core business activities rather than administrative tasks.
