Insecure Protocol/Service/Port
An insecure protocol, service, or port refers to those that are known to pose security risks primarily due to their inability to adequately secure data, especially with regards to confidentiality and integrity. These insecurities are often due to protocols transmitting sensitive information in clear text, lacking proper encryption, or being susceptible to exploits if they are either set up with default settings or misconfigured.
In conclusion, while many older protocols and services are integral to current network infrastructures, transitioning to secure versions or alternatives is critical in safeguarding data against the prevalent threats in today's cyber landscape.
