ABA Transit Routing Number

An ABA transit routing number, commonly referred to as a route transit number or RTN, is a unique nine-digit code used to identify a specific financial institution. This number is prominently displayed on checks and is essential for the processing of both paper and electronic transactions, including automated clearinghouse (ACH) transfers. The ABA transit number serves as a financial address for the bank within the broader banking system, enabling other institutions to locate and communicate with it directly. When combined with an individual's account number, this routing number facilitates the precise targeting and processing of transactions, ensuring that funds are correctly directed to or drawn from the right account.
