AAA
AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting) is a comprehensive framework used in network management and security that stands for "Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting." This protocol is integral to managing user identities, access rights, and resource consumption across networks. Authentication involves verifying a user's identity to ensure they are who they claim to be, typically through passwords, biometric data, or other security measures. Once authenticated, the authorization process determines the user’s privileges or access rights within the system, dictating what resources or areas the user can access. Lastly, accounting tracks the consumption of network resources by a user, recording details such as duration of access, the amount of data transferred, and any changes made during the session. Together, these components play a critical role in enhancing security and ensuring proper use of network resources within an organization.
